As many of you know, I blog for the website evermine.com, where all these cute labels and tags and coasters are created. So this is why you will often see many of my ideas on this blog, using these products. Besides the personal touch it adds to the idea, it has inspired many shlichus ideas since I brainstorm ways in which to add little touches to all our events and programs.
This idea came about as I was thinking of something to send to my daughter who is in High School in NY. I figured that her and her dorm mates would really need a bit of a ‘pick me up’ as they enter their mid terms and what would be cute, simple and inexpensive (and lightweight!) to send to them, other than these little gifts!
I’ll admit, that this was by far one of my most fun blog post experiments as I was a little doubtful that you could actually make popcorn in your own paper bags.
But nothing could be easier than filling a bag with popcorn kernels, folding the top over 3 times and putting it in your microwave on “popcorn” setting, for a delicious snack! (without all the other stuff that is added to those bought popcorn bags!)
Try it! It really works! For a regular lunch bag size, use about 1/4 – 1/2 cup popcorn kernels and for these mini bags use only about a tablespoon of kernels. You may have to experiment with quantities and microwave time but it won’t take long to figure out what is perfect for your popcorn needs!
Have fun!
