I like this cookie cutter because it takes out the middle! You can find all different kinds of cookie cutters in cooking stores like Sur La Table or Crate and Barrel.

And of course, save some dough for the kids to make their own while you prep for your program! Remember it’s all in the journey…even if your kitchen is covered in flour and pieces of mashed up dough!

Basic Cookie Dough                                                                                                       (From Spice and Spirit Cookbook)

3 Eggs

1 Cup Maragrine

1/2 Tsp. Vanilla

4 Cups Flour

2 Cups Icing Sugar (Confectioners Sugar)

3 Tsp. Baking Powder

Preheat Oven to 350 degrees                                                                                           Beat eggs and then add margarine and vanilla.  Mix in the dry ingredients until well combined. On a floured surface, roll out dough and use cookie cutters to make desired shapes. Bake on a parchment lined cookie sheet for 10 – 12 minutes.

Decorate with a simple icing glaze made from confectioners sugar and water (just a few spoons). Mix icing until thick and smooth and spread on cooled cookies. Then add sprinkles while icing is still wet.

The other option is to add sprinkles onto the cookies while they are not yet baked. You may need to press the sprinkles into the dough to keep the sprinkles from rolling off once baked.
